Rural Women Shaping the Future of Cyprus’ Countryside

TriPy founder Maria joined women from across rural Cyprus at the “Women of the Countryside: Challenges and Opportunitie” event in Kyperounda, taking part in a roundtable on the realities of living and working in the countryside. Her participation brought the perspective of TriPy, the first and only mobile web app built around the Cyprus villages and the local businesses of rural Cyprus, to a wider conversation about the role of technology and sustainability in rural life.

Maria took part in the second panel for the discussion “Women of the Countryside in the New Digital and Green Era”, which looked at the how digital tools and greener practices are influencing rural businesses and communities.

The event was co-organized by the Office of the Commissioner for the Development of Mountain Communities and the Office of the Commissioner for Gender Equality, with women working in the countryside and professionals from business, academia, and other fields sharing their perspectives.

The conversation connected closely with Maria’s work through TriPy, where she works directly with the small businesses, producers and people who keep Cyprus villages active. Taking part in discussions like this gives her the opportunity to bring those experiences into a wider conversation about how the countryside can remain vibrant, connected and sustainable.
